Work Attire

Are you Dressed for Success?

Smart appearance creates a great first impression for your business, and so does PPE!

Uniforms, name badges and well-presented staff send a clear message to your clients. They clearly define who works in store and who is a customer.  They also re-enforce a team environment and a ranking of staff. Pretty self-explanatory.

Let’s have a look at the other side of uniforms and what we need to put on our bodies in order to do the job safely.

Shoes – do you wear closed toe shoes with good grip? Standing for long periods of time on hard surfaces can really damage joints and limbs. Anti-fatigue mats cushion and support groomers.

Knee Pads – If you are a groomer who kneels a lot, have you thought about using a knee pad? Try not to favour one knee.

Back supports – Specialist physiotherapy professionals may suggest wearing an upper or lower back support. Good posture is good for many things including the digestive tract and spin.

Gloves – Not only do they protect us from a barrage of chemicals and toxins absorbed by the skin, they can protect us from disease and hair splinters.

Arm Guard Sleeves – Used between the wrist and the elbow, these sleeves save broken skin from wrestling dogs.

Face Mask – Groomers who do not use masks are asking for trouble! A mask will protect from dander, consumable products, hair, and pollen. A must for all bathers, dryers, and groomers.

Eye Protection – Goggles are perhaps the most underrated PPE. So often we use medicated shampoo that can damage our eyes. Debris from a shaking dog, bacteria from the mouth, ears or skin can affect our eyes.

Ear Protection – Protecting our ears from barking, drying and general grooming noises, not only saves our hearing, it can help to control stress in our body.

Grooming Apparel – Grooming jackets and pants will deter hair from entering our clothing or skin. We all know it is not 100% hair proof, but it does help!

Thinking about how we work is just as important as the work we produce. Dress for the success of your body, not just the look of your business.
