Meet the Affenpinscher, affectionately known as the "Monkey Dog." These scruffy little charmers have been around since the 1600s, favored by European nobility as both companions and skilled pest controllers. While they share many traits with the Terrier group, Affenpinschers are officially classified as a Toy breed.

Today, Alicia is grooming Buddy, a lively 9-year-old, who’s getting a pet trim with a spray-up. For this look, Alicia will use a #4 blade on the body, a 19mm extension on the cape, and will scissor the shape of the cape and legs for a polished finish.

Equipment list: #4 blade, 19mm extension, metal comb, thinning scissors, straight scissors, nail clippers, Artero Podium hairspray

Part 1 Alicia starts the haircut from the last rib, using a #4F. She moves to a #10 blade on the top third of the outside ear and a #30 on the inside.

Part 2 Alicia sets Buddy's carrot tail in. She then sets the rear legs in, showing angulation at the front of the back leg rather than the rear. The front legs are columns and set in with thinning shears.
