Chuckie and Billy show us a very respectable pet style trim that pays homage to the breed standards, but is easy to maintain for this family pet.

Part 2
PART 1 Clipping the body. Chuckie is clipping his body with a #5 skip tooth blade. These blades will give you a natural look to the Cairn coat, however, care must be taken when using this type of blade, as loose skin and warts can be more easily nicked. Chuckie removes Billy’s skirt (/kilt?) to give him a sporting, pet style trim.
PART 2 The head study. Billy has ears that fall forward. Traditionally, they would be erect. Unlike the Westie, the ears are taken at a 3rd or half off from the tip. It is also important to remember that the Cairn Terrier head is taken tighter than a Westie’s.
